
JIU JITSU KAIZEN ACADEMY
Conveniently located in the heart of South Pasadena, our clean and spacious facility features a large training area with open bays for fresh air, changing rooms, a private shower room, storage lockers and a corner for little ones to play or read in during classes.
The academy is on the corner of Mission Street and Fairview Avenue. Parking is available in the adjacent lot.
You may visit our academy as either a drop in or a trial guest. An instructor must approve all guests before participation in a class.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I VISIT?
Please check in with our staff when you arrive and let them know if you are visiting as a drop in or trial guest.
Complete and sign our waiver form.
If you are a drop in guest, please pay the drop in training fee of $40.
Storage lockers are available (please bring your own lock).
Uniform gis are provided to trial guests free of charge.
For safety purposes, you will be asked to remove all jewelry when training (including earrings and wedding rings).
Bare feet are not allowed in the facility except when on the mats. You may find it convenient to wear sandals or slides for easy transitions on and off the mats.
We recommend that you bring water or a refillable water bottle.
All visitors must adhere to our academy etiquette.
If you have limited or no prior training, don't worry! Your instructor will ensure you are able to follow along with the lesson and keep up during class.
Please feel free to ask questions about our training programs, facilities or instructors in-between classes or during breaks.
ACADEMY ETIQUETTE
Hygiene: Wear fresh, clean uniforms for each class. Wear a rash guard under gi uniform. Maintain personal hygiene, including trim nails and use of deodorant. No bare feet in the gym.
Punctuality: Arrive on time, but better late than never. If late, wait at the edge of the mat until acknowledged by the instructor to join.
Respect: Bow when entering and leaving the mat. Bow and shake the hand of each person on the mat who was there before you.
Mat Behavior: Do not be a disruption during instruction. Absolutely no shoes on the mat.
Training Partners: Shake hands before and after working with a partner. Practice courtesy and respect. Communicate injuries and intensity level expectations.
Safety: Practice techniques with control, physically and emotionally.
Cleaning: Practice ownership of the gym and help clean the mats after class. Clean up after yourself after bathroom use and pick up after yourself.
Attitude: Maintain a positive, humble and respectful attitude. Be open to learning and constructive criticism. Support and encourage your teammates.
